Ad will now read:

Two spaces for sale in Floral Hills Garden of Life Eternal for the price of $1,000 each. According to Floral Hills, these are valued at $2,295 each. Cost to the buyer for a deed - $250. We moved out of the area and purchased other spaces. One space was given to my niece.

Hi Adam - The first thing that your Dad needs to do is get permission from the cemetery. In NY - the cemetery has 1st right of refusal. If they do not buy them back, they must issue you a release allowing you to sell on your own. But you must have that release first - otherwise the actual owner of the plots will still be the cemetery. Please call me at 866-754-6573 or email me at info@thecemeteryexchange.com if I can assist you further.

There has been a number of cases in which shady gravekeepers have, without just cause, moved the remains of old "tenants" to make room for more. The fact of the matter is, is that this act is against the law. As long as the gravekeeper isnt super mean, you should be safe in your eternal slumber. To answer your next question, many cemetaries are privately owned, although city, county and state cemetaries are all over the place. I know its a harsh answer, but many times when a graveyard is full and no income is being generated by new plots, the land often is just left to rot. City, state and county graveyards are kept through the taxes you pay but they are not as often located on a gorgeous piece of land. To answer your final question is a little intriguing. There are several ways a body is disposed of. The most common, of course is burial. Another common method of body disposal is cremation. The body of the deseaced is placed into a gas oven and burned into ashes that are typically place in an urn. One not-so-common way of burial is called a sky burial. The body is cut into pieces and scattered around a mountain plateau for consumption by other animals, giving back to the circle of life. Burials by sea and space are preformed by spreading the ashes of the dearly departed either into the sea, or into the high reaches of outerspace via rocket. Many people donate their body to.what is known as a body farm. Scientist leave the bodies to decompose in a secluded feild to better their knowledge of the way a body decomposes naturally. As you can see there are many alternatives to burial.

Hi- My late maternal grandparent and great uncle purchased plots in Queens,NY (a cemetery for Jewish people).
I was born as a third generation on my maternal grandparents side. I plan to be cremated. My brother passed away 6 months after my mother . My mother is buried with her parents and my brother is buried next to my paternal grandparents.
Since I do not plan to be buried ,I will like to see my plot and my brother's back to the family who is a third or second cousin.

Do I sell it back to the cemetery or to the family.? I do not hold the deed but I guess the one who handles this on my maternal grandfather's side of the family.

I really need the money due to the economic changes at this present time.

I eceived a letter showing new rules from the Cemetery I purchased 16 lots about 20 years ago.

The rules included a statement "The town will purchase back unused plots from the original owner or the heirs at its discretion, at the original price without interest."

Can the cemetery at its discretion buy back the lots I purchased for my family?

I thought I could sell the lots if I wished to a third party?

Every listing on www.gravesolutions.com is a legitimate listing. Unfortunately, sometimes people sell their property and never report the sale so the listing can be posted as sold or removed. Also, people move, change phone numbers or emails and do not change the ad to reflect new contact information. We adjust all ads when we learn of a sale, move, phone change, etc. Grave Solutions has a toll free number 888 742 8046 and is available to help any customer make changes or corrections to the information in the ad.
